Garden design in Woking, Surrey with prarie planted borders, evening seating area, natural planting scheme, and turf steps.
I've been designing gardens since 2002, so that's 17 years.

I work mainly in London and the Home Counties, but am happy to take on projects anywhere in the World. Creativity combined with a business background helps me design beautiful, unique gardens for all my clients. My specialization is designing sloping gardens.

I bring to the design of my gardens a lifetime passion for gardening and plants, a love of architecture, and interior design. Each garden I design is a unique response to its situation and the client’s requirements, no two gardens are the same. I believe that the key to designing a great garden is knowing how to blend functionality with aesthetics. This way all my clients get the garden they want that actually works for their lifestyle.

My gardens are characterized by strong structures and symmetry in all the hard landscaping which gives each garden a natural flow and elegance. The hard elements are then softened using flowing, textural planting schemes that provide year-round colour and interest. My aim is always to use the landscaping to unite the house and garden and set the house in its plot.

I have been inspired by my wanderings around the world. I love the massive proportions and natural grandeur of the USA’s National Parks; the wonderful symmetry, detail and harmony of the gardens of the Chateaux in the Loire valley, particularly Villandry; the skillful blend of natural and man-made in Gaudi’s magical Parc Guell in Barcelona. The unique beauty of these natural and man-made landscapes has moved me to create outdoor spaces that people can enjoy every day.

My previous career was in IT and I re-trained in 2002 as a garden designer. I attended various courses at Merrist Wood and have a diploma in garden design.
My aim is to inspire in customers the same passion for their garden that I have for my own. I want people to be genuinely delighted by their gardens. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to deliver something extraordinary to my clients that is so much more than they had expected.

The same attention to detail is applied to every garden I design regardless of the budget. Each garden is finished with beautiful, natural materials that complement the design and add interest through textural contrast. Carefully designed lighting schemes introduce a touch drama to my gardens by night as well as extending their hours of use.

I believe that gardens feed the soul and that being outside in the fresh air in beautiful surroundings, interacting with nature is essential for health and well-being. If I can pass on some of this to my clients I feel I’m making a difference to their lives, and this is what drives me every day to keep improving my craft.
What my clients say…

From the very first consultation I realised Linsey had a great empathy with our garden and my likes and dislikes for a future garden.
