My Profile

I bring to the design of my gardens a lifetime passion for gardening and plants and a love of architecture. Each garden I design is a unique response to its situation and the client’s requirements, no two gardens are the same. I believe that all gardens should be functional, but that this should never mean sacrificing aesthetics.

I draw inspiration from the places I’ve visited - the massive proportions and natural grandeur of the USA’s National Parks; the wonderful symmetry, detail and harmony of the gardens of the Chateaux in the Loire valley, particularly Villandry; the skillful blend of natural and man-made in Gaudi’s magical Parc Guell in Barcelona. No attempt would ever be made to replicate these landscapes, but their beauty has moved me to work with nature.

In my previous career as a senior IT consultant, I worked extensively with customers defining and interpreting technical requirements, implementing and project managing solutions, keeping track of budgets, ensuring customers were kept informed, and sorting out problems. This experience is invaluable when dealing with the complexity of garden design projects. Customers can be assured of a high level of professionalism in all aspects of my work. Swapping my corporate life for a more creative role is the best thing I’ve ever done.

My aim is always to delight customers by designing gardens that they could never have envisaged which not only meet their requirements and enhance their environment, but also exceed their expectations. The same attention to detail is applied to every garden I design regardless of the budget.
